The Society is named in honor of Mary Ketcham Armstrong, librarian from 1930-1955 for both the College of Marshall and East Texas Baptist College. In addition to her duties as librarian she was at various times Publicity Director for the College and teacher in the Education Department. One of her most memorable accomplishments was penning the words to "Now and Always," the East Texas Baptist University hymn.
