Ask a Librarian

A team of librarians, library associates, and trained student workers are ready to help you with your research needs.  A librarian is also available by appointment when you have research needs that need more time and assistance.  Although we are happy to assist non-ETBU users our students, faculty and staff are our priority, so please be aware that there may be some delay in answering questions, especially by email, phone, or chat.

In Person - Someone is available to assist you in person almost every hour that the library open.  At all times, except Saturday, there is a librarian or library associate on call to help you with your research needs.  on Saturday the staff member on duty has been trained to assist you with most reference questions that come up.  If a particular day or time is the most convenient for you an appointment can be scheduled with a librarian.  Call the library at 2262 or 2257 to schedule an appointment.
By Phone - Have a quick reference question, or do you need help using a database but can't get down to the library right that minute?  Call 2262 (2256 if no answer) Sunday - Friday and 2256 on Saturday.  You may also leave a message at the 2262 extension and we will return your call as soon as possible.

By Email - If you can't come by in person or call on the phone you may ask a question by email an it will be answered as soon as possible.  Send the email to

By Chat - Chat with a librarian or leave us an email message by clicking on the green help button found throughout our website. You can also chat with us through Google Talk - our ID is etbu.library
LibAnswers - Have a question that's not time-sensitive?  Ask a Librarian or library staff member through LibAnswers.  As you type the question, if it is one that has already been answered then the question will pop up and you can choose it to see the previous answer.  If you don't see it type it in and your question will be answered within 24 hours online and/or via email.
txt By Txt - Send a text message with your question to 903-702-5ASK(5275) and a Jarrett reference librarian will get back to you asap with an answer from a reliable source.  There is no charge for this service, however, standard text messaging rates do apply.
