Locate a Book by Library of Congress Classification
Most of you are familiar with the Dewey Decimal classification through your school or local public libraries but at ETBU our library uses the Library of Congress Classification System. It's different in that it uses an alphanumeric system instead of just numeric. That means that the call number will start with a 1-3 letter combination, followed by a number. This is an example of a Library of Congress Classification call number that is found in Jarrett Library:
JV6455 .P76 1985
To find this book go to the JV section of the circulating books, then search within that section to find 6465. When you find that section you'll Look for .P76. If a final number appears as it does above that is usually the year the book was published and will distinguish between different editions of the same book.
In Jarrett Library all print books are located "downstairs" in the main part of the library. The reference section is located nearest the glass wall and the circulating books are found in the middle two sections and part of the section located nearest the windows.
